School Days :)

Today is the first day of school. Vacation is over for the kids and the students and they need to prepare their bags and wear uniforms again after two months of chilling out, strolling, slouching and "tambay" mode with the barkada. I woke up earlier today and saw my neighbors in their best uniform waiting for the school bus. First thing that came into my mind, I miss school days. It's been six years that my world revolves around the office. I haven't even visit my Alma Mater. My old uniforms has been in my closet for so long that all I can do is simply stare over it and reminisced the times I am in a rush going to school hoping that I can make it on time. My eight years of going to school has been one of the best moment of my life.

Here are the reasons why I love going to school:

1. You will meet new friends. Every school year I always found a true friend. During elementary, my bestfriend was Jhona who happened to be two zones away from our house. Then on my highschool days, I've met Larissa, a chinita girl from San Pedro and became my closest friend for three years. And finally during college, I have my bestest friend May and we are still bestfriends until now.

2. You will know the value of learning. Good things are being learned in school. I am not a perfect student during my time because I broke some of the school rules also. I graduated in Catholic school during highschool where I started to become a firm believer of God. I always attend the mass wearing my white gala uniform with a veil in my head and became a lector and commentator every Sunday. But during our retreat, we did some sort of vandalism in the retreat house wherein we were punished by our priest. And during college, I cut classes twice. Uh-Oh! But I've never been into big trouble. My parents was never been in the principal's office. That's the good part.

3. You will discover what craft you're good at and what are your real potentials. When I was in elementary I won the History contest. I am a 2nd placer that time. I never thought History can be an interesting subject. I also compete for declamation but I guess it's not my forte. During high school, I was the school representative for essay writing in English. I won 1st placer during the Student's Week and received the Best in English award. Since then, English became my favorite subject.

I won 2nd placer in the History contest with Maam Bernadette

4. You've got your own choice of what school bags and other school materials you'd like to have before the start of the school year. When I was in kinder, I am a spoiled brat. I have three different luncbox. I have Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast and Pocahontas. I am a big fan of Little Mermaid before. My shoes has a Barbie doll chain. I even have a Jollibee trolley bag when I was in Grade 4. But when I enter highschool, my interests changed from big shoulder bags mostly black and red colors to duffle bags. I love notebooks with cute prints and has a motto in every cover. Most of my notebooks before have pictures of flowers and babies. Of course, when I was in college, I've got one notebook and that is all for my subjects already. Tipid mode.

when I was in Grade One, the always call me "Pops Fernandez" because of my hair since my Mom always have my hair cut like this where I look so boyish

5. You will have your first crush. I remember when I was in Grade 4 I had this huge crush from a guy who joined our class that year. I find him cute then and he always looks neat. His name is Francis. Unfortunately, he likes my bestfriend Jhona. I even have two consistent suitors then namely Emil and Jeric. Wow! Still, remember their names. While on highschool, I have two major crushes as well. It was still Francis because we studied on the same school and Jeffrey. But Jeffrey transferred school during our 2nd year so on the latter part of my highschool days, Vherong caught my attention. That was my highschool prom when I started having a crush on him because of that memorable dance. College is the most unforgettable year because of Yuuki. He is my one and only true love and crush cause even after the time I graduated college I still can't get over him. We became friends that is the most thankful part.

Jeric Lareza, he was one of "makulit na suitor" during elementary

This is Vherong. I secretly bought this picture to Manong Cameraman. Until now, he didn't know about this.

Yuuki Kadooka, child-like version of my college crush. Literally, I don't have a picture of him. Too bad.

6. You will appreciate your parents very much. Sending kids to school has never been an easy task for every parent. It is considered to be a big responsibility that they really need to do. Plus the fact that it is kinda expensive. I did not came from a rich family but my parents worked hard just to send me to school. My Mom even worked as a caterer to my Aunt's business during my elementary days just to feed us while my Dad's source of living that time is through fishing. He was a fisherman then and I am so proud for both of them. There was even a time I can't join our retreat because we really don''t have any money and my classmates decided to contribute to cover my expenses. I cried so hard that time. I thanked my parents now that I was able to finish my studies and have a good job now.
